"LET THERE BE LIGHT" Ministries
THE ONE TRUE CHURCH OF GOD, part 10 quotes
1) Christ mentions this need of His people becoming one together throughout His last prayer 4 times (John 17:11, 21, 22, 23). This shows that unity is something vital and even salvational for His people to achieve! But how are God's people to accomplish this unity?
- “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” John 17:22-23.
These verses reveal that In order for His people to “be one, even as we are one” Christ first had to give to His people “the glory which thou gavest me, I have given them”. Without this glory God's followers would be unable to become one in unity as God and Christ are one!
2) What is this glory which is vital to unity and oneness among God’s people?
“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.” 1 Peter 4:14.
This verse clearly reveals that the glory Christ’s followers are to receive is the Spirit of God, which God first gave to His Son Jesus!
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he (John the Baptist) saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17.
“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22.
“For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.” John 3:33-34.
Here are some other Bible passages showing the Holy Spirit is this glory:
“Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.” Ezekiel 3:12.
“So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.” Ezekiel 43:5.
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18.
3) After receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, what did this glory of the Lord then do for Christ?
“And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.” Mark 1:10-13.
“And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” Luke 4:13.
These verses reveal that immediately after Christ had received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, He was led into the wilderness to be tempted of Satan. After Jesus had successfully overcome the Devil, then the devil had to flee from Him! This shows that the Holy Spirit worked in Jesus to endure Satan’s temptations and gave Him all the divine power necessary to successfully overcome and defeat Satan! Thus the Holy Spirit destroyed temptation and sin within Christ so that He could become perfect and complete in oneness with the Father, and give glory to God!
“And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.” Exodus 24:17.
The glory of the Lord, or the Holy Spirit, was depicted as a holy fire, devouring all temptation, sin and imperfection within Christ’s sinful flesh in order for Christ to become perfect and achieve and maintain oneness with His Father. Christ was then able to give God glory, because He was filled with the Spirit of glory.
4) Christ gives this glory of the Lord - the Holy Spirit - to all of His followers.
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me”. John 15:26.
“That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:14.
5) After Jesus gives the Spirit of glory to His followers, then what occurs?
“...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (from bondage and sin). But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18.
“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14.
Just as with Jesus: the Holy Spirit will continue to work within us to free us from all bondage and sin by enlightening our minds with the knowledge of the righteous character of God, so that all temptation, sin, and imperfection can be devoured in us and we can become changed more and still more until we perfectly image God, and thus be able to give God glory because we are filled with the Spirit of glory! And the Holy Spirit of glory will continue to fill this dark world with this knowledge of the true character of God until the whole earth is covered with it.
“But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.” Numbers 14:21.
“And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.” Ezekiel 43:2.
“And after these things I saw another angel (represents a messenger who brings tidings - Strong’s Greek word #32) come down (poured out) from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities (probation ended for Babylon)." Revelation 18:1-5.
“His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.” Psalms 72:17-20.
These verses reveal that the Holy Spirit is the glory of God, and He is poured out in great power after probation has ended for Babylon. He then gives divine power to God’s people which enables them to escape from Babylon - being all corrupt and apostate churches as well as from all corruption in their heart and life - so that they can overcome all temptation and sin and perfectly reflect God’s righteous character and give God glory.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance...And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25.
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:8-10.
6) “Who by him (Jesus) do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently”. 1 Peter 1:21-22.
These verses reveal that God gave Christ glory, and in turn Christ gave the Spirit to His followers so that they could purify their souls in overcoming Satan through obedience to God. But more than this, because after God’s people have received the outpouring of the Spirit, they were able to manifest true love for all the brethren - or the members of Christ’s body! This means that the Holy Spirit of Glory unites God's followers one with another!
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit....That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.” 1 Corinthians 12:13, 25.
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3.
These verses reveal that if your church has 20 different members, then all 20 will be baptized by the Holy Spirit of glory into just one body. After this occurs then there will be peace without any division in this body, all members caring for one another because lowliness, meekness, longsuffering, forbearance and true love exists for one another; and then this loving, peaceful oneness of the Spirit is to be maintained by every member of this one body.
7) If any member refuses to deny self so that they can obey God, then they cannot receive or continue to receive the outpouring of the Spirit of glory!
“...the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Acts 5:32.
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” 1 Peter 1:2.
These verses reveal that the Holy Spirit of glory is only given to those who obey God, and He is continually given them so that they can continue to obey God and become sanctified or perfected in character to God’s glory. Without continued obedience, God’s followers cannot have the Holy Spirit, nor can they have or maintain unity among themselves!
The real reason why God’s people are not yet united with one another in Christ in God is because one or more among them continue to disobey God! This lack of true unity shows that they do not have the Holy Spirit, and reveals that self is the greatest enemy to our personal salvation, to the salvation of the body of Christ, as well as to the salvation of the whole world!
8) Once the Holy Spirit of glory comes upon these 20 members and they achieve this blessed unity and oneness with each other in Christ in God, then what are they to do?
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” Isaiah 60:1-3.
9) Since we all have a great work to do, then what a privilege it is to accomplish this work together as one in loving unity with you all, with the Holy Spirit of glory giving us a bright hope of success and divine power to accomplish it!
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalms 133:1-3.
10) Let us strive with all the power that God gives us to fulfill this last prayer of Christ and become one of one another in Christ in God, which is only made possible because of God pouring out the Holy Spirit of glory upon Christ and Christ then pouring this glory upon us!
“...I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21.
