BECOMING RIGHTEOUS, part 7 quotes

1) When humanity and Divinity is combined, we will not sin!

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 John 3:9.

Once our weak efforts to obey God combines with the Divine strength and grace of Christ, we will not sin, but we will do the will of God!

“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:1-4.

How many victories can we obtain through the Divine strength of the Godhead working in us? We can gain the victory over every sin, over all our lusts of the flesh, over appetite, over everything we need in order to be perfect men and women.

“Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21.

2) “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin...? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? What was the key that prevented sin from having any further “dominion over you”? “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God”. And what was the key that made you “free from sin”? “For as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.” So the key was no longer yielding yourself to temptation to be the servants of unrighteousness, but instead to yield yourself to God to become servants of righteousness and holiness! It is this yielding to God that brakes sin’s dominion over you, unites you with Divinity and makes you “free from sin”!

The Greek word for “yield” used here is “paristemi”, and it translates and means “to stand, to exhibit, to yield” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, word #3936). So how much effort does it take for you to stand and exhibit an upright position? You have to employ and set your entire body to work in order to stand up.

3) It takes decision and determination to force your will to accomplish the task of overcoming, and once your will is set to work, then just like when you were first learning to stand as a child, your whole focus will be centered upon accomplishing that task, and you will not give up until you succeed and achieve righteousness.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6.

4) Divine power combining with your efforts will assure you the victory over any obstacle!

“...let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” Isaiah 27:5.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

5) “Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.” Matthew 9:6.

As the palsied put forth his will power and exerted effort to obey the command of Christ through faith, then God’s Divine power combined with this man’s efforts to obey, and he was able to gain the victory over that seemingly impossible obstacle that was hindering his advancement, and he was completely healed!

This same experience is seen occurring with the lepers (Luke 17:12-14), the man with the withered hand (Matthew 12:13), the blindman (John 9:6-7), etc.

6) In this walk through faith, some will fall into sin which stains their garments once again with blood and filthiness. But does that mean that they are lost? Not at all.

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again...” Proverbs 24:16.

“When I fall, I will arise...” Micah 7:8.

7) “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” 1 John 2:1.

And what does Jesus then tell us, like He told the woman who had fallen into sin?

“...go [where? Go forward], and sin no more.” John 8:11.

8) What caused you to sink back into sin is the same that caused Peter to sink into the raging sea – you took your eyes off of Christ (see Matthew 14:29-31). This time keep your eyes more firmly focused on Christ who is leading you to the city of God, and keep walking forward through faith, even through you have to step into the raging waters of affliction. In doing so you will be beholding Christ, and by beholding Him you will become “changed into the same image from glory to glory [or from one stage of growth in character to another stage of growth], even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

9) If you continue sinning and refuse to repent, being determined to give up the warfare and no longer to continue advancing upward, then Jesus will be forever aborted out of your life! This would mean that you are guilty of killing Him afresh, which means that you are eternally lost!

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.” Hebrews 6:4-8.

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?...Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 10) There is no such Bible truth to the belief of once-saved-always-saved. This is because you can always throw away any gift which you received -- including this precious gift of salvation from sin!

“...when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.” Ezekiel 18:24.
