THE  HUMAN  SANCTUARY  AND  TEMPLE  OF  GOD,  part 17  quotes

1)     Cleansing of our Physical Body
“...God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them”. Genesis 5:1-2.

These verses reveal that we are not beings made from random genetic mutations which happened to form our physical nature both within and without over millions of years.  But we were formed, made and created by God on one literal day to live and function in a specific designed fashion, and for a particular purpose.  And when you take the time to investigate into and understand some of the vast complexity of the systems of our body, including the minutest cellular components, and then see how each system functions independently and yet harmoniously interacts in complete sympathetic unison with each other body part and system, you will indeed join your voices along with David in declaring:
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  Psalms 139:14.

Even though God has given each one of us the precious privilege of having life, and also the freedom to decide what to do with our own lives, yet our Creator has also given us wise counsel and direction in how to best live our lives.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2.

It is not just our mind and our soul or spirit that is to be cleansed from all filthiness, but also our physical body itself!
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

If any who know this fact of truth should choose to ignore your Creator’s wise counsel and direction, and instead of cleansing your body so that it can become a holy and acceptable temple for God, you make it more filthy and acceptable for Lucifer by conforming to the ways of the world, then also realize, that without a doubt, you will lose eternal life!
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.  Let no man deceive himself.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-18.

2)    How To Cleanse Our Body

Everything that God created is designed to function under specific laws.  All of nature obeys the laws for which it was created.  From the starry host above, to the earth itself and everything connected with the earth – including rocks and minerals; water and air; plants and animals; birds and insects; etc., all were created to function according to a specific and pre-determined set of rules.  And especially is this true in the creation of mankind.
All that makes us a living human being has been specifically created by God to function according to set laws.  And as we learned a while back, everything that God does is with purpose and design.  So then this means that God specifically designed human beings to function the way we do for a set purpose in order to teach us some beautiful spiritual lessons.
If a star should stray outside of its set boundary of functioning laws for which it was originally created, then it will soon face dangerous consequences for breaking these natural laws.  Not only would it be in danger of forever ceasing to be a shining star by becoming deformed, twisted and broken apart from a greater gravitational force than its own, but it would also have an adverse effect on all other starry or planetary bodies that it happened to encounter along its wayward path.  And especially is this true with mankind.  If we choose to stray away from the purpose for which God gave us life, then not only will we suffer for breaking the laws of our nature, but we will also have an adverse affect upon others we may come into contact with.

What are these specific natural laws that God created each of us human beings to obey and function under, so that we can avoid straying and endangering our own existence, as well as adversely affecting others with whom we meet?

3)   Laws Governing the Human Body

As you closely and carefully examine the functioning of the various systems of the human body, you will discover that there are specific laws governing our physical nature which must be obeyed in order to continue living.  These governing physical laws are also seen to be mainly tied or grouped together under the following general areas: Air, Sunlight, Temperance, Rest, Exercise, Diet, Water, and Trust.  So you can see that there are actually 8 different major areas that govern our ability to live, and each of these 8 areas have laws that must be obeyed in order for our physical body to continue functioning properly.
We may give many causes for the reason why disease is so prevalent in our world today.  But the major cause for suffering from disease is because we have disobeyed one or more of these areas and its governing laws.  So since these 8 areas and their laws deal with every aspect of our physical nature, then these 8 can also be viewed as being the laws of health.  Or in other words, if we should become sick, then what we need to do is to discover which of these 8 areas of laws we are breaking, and then plead with God to forgive us and to grant us His divine power and strength to no longer break these laws but to instead obey them so that we may recover our health and keep it.  So these 8 areas of laws governing our body can also be looked upon as 8 simple remedies which we can freely and inexpensively use in order to overcome sickness and disease, and regain our health.

4)    The Area and Law of AIR

Fresh pure air is an essential part of life.  We can live for weeks without food, days without water, but only minutes without air.  This is because every cell in our body requires oxygen in order to function.  So you can understand that if the air we breath is not pure, then we force all the cells in our body to function on this impure oxygen.  In fact, The American Lung Association has declared that about ½ of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by polluted air!

Fresh pure air is a blessing of God, and when constantly breathed in it will work to electrify the whole system by allowing it to freely perform all its necessary functions.  Full, deep inspirations of pure air, not smog or smoke filled polluted air, will fill our lungs and our blood with oxygen, and in turn when we exhale we remove the poisonous gas of carbon dioxide or CO2 from the blood and ourselves.  So every time we breathe, oxygen replaces poisonous CO2 in us and thus works to purify our blood.
Oxygen imparts to the blood a bright color, and then the heart sends this life-giving flow to every part and cell of the body.  So if the circulation of the blood should be hindered by tight clothing or bands, or by insufficient clothing to protect our arms and legs from the cold, then we are depriving some parts and cells of our bodies from the necessary oxygen it needs, as well as allowing the poisonous CO2 levels to increase.  Whatever hinders the circulation forces the blood to pool in the core of our body where our vital organs are located, and thus produces congestion in them.  This congestion can result in causing us headaches, coughing, palpitations of the heart, and even indigestion.  So it is important to keep your blood freely circulating, and also to get plenty of fresh air.
A good deep respiration will soothe our nerves; it will stimulate our appetite and render our digestion of food more perfect.  It will also help us to get a good, sound and refreshing night’s sleep.  So you can see that the benefits of breathing fresh, pure air to our health are tremendous, and should not be underestimated.

But since God created us all to function in the precise way that we do, and that this intelligent design was with the purpose of teaching us some important spiritual lessons, then why did He create humans with the need of constantly breathing in air?
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7.

This verse shows us that even though we already had a formed body, yet we were still dead until God Himself breathed His breath of life into us, and then we began to live.  So then just as the body cannot live without air, so we cannot survive without needing the Saviour Jesus Christ!  And just as each cell in our entire body must be connected with oxygen in order to live, so every part of our spiritual life must be connected with Christ in order to live.  If we keep any of our poisonous self alive in us, then we are just that much closer to everlasting death.  Because just as the increasing levels of the poisonous CO2 in our blood will cause us to become sleepy and if high enough will kill us, so increasing levels of selfishness in us will adversely affect our spiritual life, until we lose eternal life altogether.
Just as we need to constantly breathe in a fresh supply of pure oxygen into our lungs in order to replace the poisonous CO2 in the blood, and just one big breath of oxygen will not last us very long; so our spiritual life needs a fresh and constant supply of the pure Saviour in our hearts in order to replace selfishness in us, because just one big conversion when we first accepted Jesus is not enough to last us very long.  This then means that just as we need to constantly breathe in and then exhale the poisonous gas to freely pass away from us, so we also need to be constantly converted to Jesus, in order to allow self to freely pass away from our hearts.
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23.

     “I die daily.” 1 Corinthians 15:31.

For those who have once accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, but have gone back to your own selfish life and have allowed your spiritual life to die away, even to the point that it is all that remains today is nothing but dry lifeless bones, yet even now there is still hope of having your spiritual life revived and come alive for Jesus once again!
“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.  And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live?  And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.  Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.  Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD....and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” Ezekiel 37:1-6, 10.

There is a real hope today for all whose spiritual life is dried up, dead and non-existent.  This is because your miracle working God is still willing to personally revive you by breathing into you the breath of life, putting Jesus Christ back into your heart and soul, so that you can truly rise up and live and work for Him, and if faithful you along with that exceeding great army of other precious revived souls, will indeed gain an everlasting life.
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20.

Let us all follow this law of Air, by continuously breathing in a full and pure supply of oxygen to maintain our physical health, as well as to continuously allow the pure Lord Jesus Christ to fully fill us with Himself, and thus maintain our spiritual health.

5)    The Area and Law of SUNLIGHT

Sunlight is one of nature's most healing agents.  It is a very simple matter to go outside and enjoy the rays of God's sunlight, or to open the curtains and beautify our homes with its light, and also gain the benefits from its presence.
Sunlight destroys bacteria, and thus can help in preventing or healing infections.  Sunlight has shown a positive effect upon the cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance of college aged men when tested, and its warming effect on the skin increases circulation.  Sunlight also showed a 30 - 40% decreased risk for breast cancer occurrence among women who were tested and who got at least 10-15 minutes of daily exposure.  It also has been shown to reduce blood pressure; decrease excess cholesterol; increases red and white blood cells; and even aids in weight loss.  And best of all, when unfiltered sunlight hits our skin, vitamin D is produced which is essential for calcium to be utilized by our body system!  So direct sunlight exposure in moderation, and without sun screen or tanning oils, is indeed essential for good health.  So then let us make sure that we allow the sun into our homes as well as onto our unprotected skin in moderation, and thus reap the health giving benefits from its light and warmth.

But why did God create the sun and our body’s need for it, and what important spiritual lessons can we find?  Just as sunlight is essential to our health and that we should not hide ourselves away from its healing rays, so may we all look up to Jesus – the “Sun of righteousness” and not hide ourselves away from Him, because He comes to us “with healing in his wings” (Malachi 4:2).
Jesus promises healing for every sin-sick soul.  Many who are dwelling in the dark shadow of sin and death need to realize that they have a hope for salvation if they would only turn their faces toward the Light of the world, for “in Him is life, and the life is the light of men” (John 1:4).  Yes, Jesus Christ is “the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9), and if you will choose to open your heart each day to receive the warm and healing beams of His love and righteousness, you will indeed find the healing balm needed to change your life from bad to good, from death to life.
As God has given you the sun – whose rays of light bring free healing warmth, so He has given you His Son Jesus – whose light of truth brings free healing warmth to your soul.  God gave you both the sun and Jesus to be a joy and a blessing, as well as for health and long life; and for those who accept Jesus as their Saviour – it will be a never ending life!

6)    The Area and Law of TEMPERANCE

To be in the best condition of health largely depends upon temperance.  Temperance means moderation and abstinence.  Moderation is to be in all good areas of our daily life – whether in working, eating, drinking, thinking, etc., and abstinence is to be our refusal to partake in any area which is harmful to our health.
Temperance in all good things is rewarded with mental and moral vigor, and it also aids in the control of our passions.  Intemperance in any area is harmful to our health.  Those who overwork find it very difficult to remain calm and patient when tested, and those who overeat find it very difficult to think and act and control themselves in other areas.  There are men and women of excellent natural ability who do not accomplish half of what they might do if they would just exercise temperance and self-control in all aspects of their lives.

Some wish that an exact rule could be prescribed for how much they should do in any given day, or how much they should eat at any given meal.  But one person cannot lay down an exact rule for another, because each of our body systems and condition of health is different.  What would be considered proper exercise for someone younger and energetic, would be too much exercise for someone older and sedentary.  So we need to know the limits of our own body, we need to then use reason and understand what is temperate or intemperate for us, and then we need to act from principle in this regard.
We should all be careful to not burden ourselves down with too much work that others can and should bear in our place.  The work that God requires us to do will not prevent our caring for our health.  The more perfect our health, the more perfect will be our labor and the more we can accomplish.  But when we overtax our strength and become exhausted, we are liable to catch a cold, and at such times there is danger of disease assuming a more dangerous form.  So we must not presumptuously overwork ourselves – even in the Lord’s work, and then leave the care of ourselves with God believing that He will then overrule our intemperance, because God has placed the responsibility to care for our health squarely upon us!
Remember, it was Adam and Eve’s intemperate desire for that forbidden object that resulted in their loss of Eden.  And temperance in all things good has more to do with our being restored to Eden than many may realize.  Anything that lessens our physical health will adversely affect our mind, and thus make us less capable of discriminating between what is right and wrong.  We then become less capable of choosing the good, and avoiding the evil, and we also have less strength of will to do that which we know to be right.  So let us be temperate in all things good, and avoid all things that are bad.

But why didn’t God create us to never grow weary?  Or why didn’t God create us to never need sleep?  It is all for a purpose dear ones.  God who never grows weary and never needs sleep could have created our entire world and all life in it in just one day, because He is the Almighty.  But He took 6 days in which to create it all.  Why?  In order to teach us the law of Temperance.  So then what does temperance have to do with our spiritual life?
The apostle Paul referred to the strict self-denial and temperance practiced by the contestants in the ancient Greek games, and then stated the following:
“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?  So run, that ye may obtain.  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.  Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.  I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-
27.

In these verses, Paul was not only talking about the physical, but also the spiritual.  There is no way that just maintaining our physical health can gain for anyone the crown of eternal life.  But we also learned that there is no way that anyone who knowingly and recklessly destroys their health can gain salvation either.  As Paul was connecting this physical law of temperance with salvation, then we need to understand that by our following this law, then we are also learning the skills necessary for our obtaining salvation.  In other words, in regards to our health, once we learn how to avoid the bad – which takes self-denial, and to only perform the good – which takes self-control, then we are also learning the vital skills for how to avoid sin and evil, and to only perform righteousness in regards to our spiritual life!

Let us practice this law of temperance in all areas, and thus reap the benefits of a healthier physical as well as a spiritual life, and by doing so gain a rich and full salvation.
